Seven prospective Ph.D. students visited the department for our annual open house this weekend.  Additional candidates who were unable to travel participated virtually.  Attendees participated in interactive presentations, panel discussions, social events, and one-on-one meetings with department faculty.

Events included a panel discussion with current students, alumni, and administration.   Panel participants included:

  • Joseph Boyle, Ph.D. Student (year 1)
  • Caroline Carrico, Ph.D. (2013), Assistant Professor, Department of Periodontics, School of Dentistry
  • Robert Carrico, Ph.D. (2012), Director, Research, United Network for Organ Sharing
  • Rebecca Goff, Ph.D. (2017), Manager, Research Science, United Network for Organ Sharing
  • Michael Grotewiel, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Graduate Admissions, School of Medicine
  • Christine Orndahl, Ph.D. Student (year 4)
  • Amber Wilk, Ph.D. (2013), Assistant Director, Research, United Network for Organ Sharing

The panel fielded questions on topics including coursework and grant writing experience.  Alumni lauded the practical hands-on experience that is a hallmark of the graduate program, notably through the Biostatistical Consulting Laboratory.
