On nine Fridays this semester, students and faculty will hear guest speakers from institutions across the country talk about their research as part of the required seminar course that all students take. The seminar provides a dynamic forum for scholars from various institutions to delve into the diverse and ever-evolving realm of biostatistical methods, and serves as a bridge between academia and real-world application.
Our seminar series covers a wide spectrum of topics, including but not limited to statistical modeling, clinical trials, epidemiology, and data analysis. Each session features a guest speaker, often a faculty member, who shares their expertise, research findings, and methodological advancements. These discussions not only expand our understanding of biostatistics but also inspire fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to complex problems.
One of the unique aspects of our seminar series is the opportunity it provides for students and faculty to interact with the guest speakers. Attendees can engage in in-depth conversations, ask questions, and establish valuable connections with leaders in the field. This fosters a collaborative atmosphere, enhancing the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
For students, these seminars offer a chance to gain insights into potential research directions, career paths, and the broader impact of biostatistical methods in the world of healthcare and science. Faculty members benefit from the exposure to diverse research methodologies and emerging trends, which enriches their teaching and research endeavors. It’s also often a chance for previous collaborators to reconnect, as many of the invited speakers have worked with our department’s faculty in other situations.
This semester’s schedule is shared below; while all sessions are held in person, we do have an option to connect virtually as well. Please see our Facebook or Instagram the week of the event to get the zoom link for that week’s seminar speaker.
